DAEXT is an independent WordPress plugin business founded in 2016. Its main plugins are Hreflang Manager, Link Manager and Ultimate Markdown, alongside a range of smaller plugins. They are sold as annual subscriptions on daext.com, with free versions on WordPress.org.
Our story
DAEXT has built WordPress plugins since 2012 and has sold its own subscriptions on daext.com since 2021.
- 2012: The founder starts publishing WordPress plugins, first on WordPress.org, then on CodeCanyon, where the DAEXT author account opens in July. The catalog includes WordPress plugins, PHP scripts and JavaScript scripts.
- 2016: DAEXT is registered as a business.
- 2021: As Envato shifts its focus toward its Envato Elements subscription service, DAEXT launches its own store on daext.com, with annual subscriptions, free plugin versions on WordPress.org and a blog on WordPress topics.
- 2024: Payments move from Stripe to Paddle, which acts as merchant of record.
- 2025: With AI making simple WordPress plugins easy to replicate, DAEXT narrows its focus to a small number of plugins and expands each one with many more features, with AI integrations on the way.
- 2026: Interlinks Manager and Autolinks Manager merge into Link Manager (September).
Our plugins
Most development time goes to three plugins, each focused on one job.
Hreflang Manager
Hreflang Manager adds hreflang tags to WordPress, so search engines show each visitor the right language or regional version of a page. It works across separate WordPress sites and across the sub-sites of a multisite network.
Hreflang data can be set from the post editor or a central menu, with support for every ISO 639-1 language, ISO 15924 script and ISO 3166-1 country. The Pro version adds sync of hreflang data across a network, a built-in Hreflang Checker, hreflang in XML sitemaps, spreadsheet import, and up to 100 alternate versions per connection.
The free version has 8,000+ active installations and a 4.7/5 rating on WordPress.org. Hreflang Manager runs on the sites of well-known international companies, including NP Digital, WEX and Fifty5Blue (formerly Kantar Media).
Link Manager
Link Manager controls the internal and external links in WordPress content. It analyzes links from several angles: a link overview, a broken links checker, a link map that shows the link structure of a site, and smart suggestions for new internal links. A dashboard with multiple tabs brings the reports together, and the data can be exported.
It also includes an automatic linking system that places links based on rules you define. This suits sites that need many structured links, such as affiliate sites, knowledge bases, wikis and legal sites that reference laws.
Link Manager combines two earlier DAEXT plugins: Interlinks Manager, one of DAEXT’s best-selling CodeCanyon plugins, which covered internal link analysis, suggestions and automation, and Autolinks Manager, which specialized in automatic links to internal and external resources.
Ultimate Markdown
Ultimate Markdown lets you write in Markdown and publish in WordPress. It turns Markdown files or pasted text into post content in both the Block Editor and the Classic Editor, and keeps a library of Markdown documents with bulk import and export.
It makes the WordPress publishing workflow more flexible, with Markdown import and export and configurable Markdown parsing for both. Most users are technical users and professionals who prefer working with Markdown files over the WordPress editor. It is also an easy way to move content generated with AI tools into WordPress.
Front Matter sets post details such as categories and tags at import. The Pro version adds automatic image upload during import, REST API support for automation, seven Markdown parsers and document categories.
Smaller plugins
- Lightweight Cookie Notice adds a lightweight, customizable cookie notice to WordPress.
- Helpful collects reader feedback on articles and knowledge base pages with a “Was this helpful?” form.
- Real Voice turns WordPress articles into audio with standard and AI-based text-to-speech engines.
